• Advocacy

    The Preservation Committee monitors senior housing facilities that are at risk for transition. The committee also explores options for supporting adaptive reuse of other buildings for low-income senior housing, and opportunities to influence policy development favoring this sector. The committee provides updated lists of senior housing at risk in the Midtown and Downtown areas of the city.

  • Communications

    The Communications Committee develops and delivers communication content through a variety of channels. It supports the education objectives of the other committees, as well as the promotional objectives of the coalition. The committee develops printed pieces, as well as visual and social media.

  • Research Committee

    The dilemma of low income senior housing in Detroit presents an opportunity for academic researchers to promote greater understanding of the issues that arise. The committee has examined various aspects of forced dislocation and other relevant topics. In addition to basic research, the committee seeks opportunities to translate that knowledge through policy analyses and academic journals.
